Reagan had one sibling, his older brother, Neil. Reagan met actress Nancy Davis in 1949 after she annotated him in his capacity as president of the Screen Actors Guild to help her with issues regarding her name appearing on a communist blacklist in Hollywood (she had been mistaken for another Nancy Davis).

Another affair was the Iran-Contra affair which was a political scandal in the United States that started in November 1 986 during the Reagan administration, senior Reagan administration officials secretly facilitated the sale of arms to Iran, the subject of an arms embargo, in which U. S. Officials also hoped that the arms sales would secure the release of hostages and allow U. S. Intelligence agencies to undo the Nicaragua Contras, which under the Poland Amendment, further funding of the Contras by the government had been prohibited by Congress.

Lastly, the Cold War which was an arms race between the United States and the Soviet Union. The Cold War was an issue in both terms for President Reagan but it finally came to an end when Reagan and the leader of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Geographer both signed the treaty to end the Cold once and for all. Reagan had to deal with many domestic issues such as an assassination attempt on him. Another issue was the air traffic controllers’ strikes in which IR controllers went on strike though it was illegal for them to do so. During Jimmy Carter’s last year in office, inflation averaged 12. %, compared with 4. 4% during Reggae’s last year in office. During Reggae’s administration, the unemployment rate declined from 7. 5% to 5. 4% which was another domestic issue. Lastly, Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act in 1986. The act made it illegal to knowingly hire or recruit illegal immigrants, required employers to find out about their employees’ immigration status, and pardoned approximately three million illegal immigrants who entered the United States prior to January 1, 1982, and had lived in the country since then.
